Nick Bosa joined KNBR shortly after being selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the No. 2 overall pick. He described what it was like finding out he was headed to the Bay Area.

"I couldn't be put into a better situation," Bosa said. "This is a team that shouldn't have been picking this high, and with all the talent they have, I can't wait to go to work and win some games."

Bosa is looking forward to proving his value to the Niner Faithful (and congrats to him on getting that term right) on game days.

"I'm so excited," Bosa continued. "This has been my dream since I was seven years old. Every fan of The Faithful is going to see that on Sundays. I'm going to put it all on the line."

Bosa joins a defensive front that added former Kansas City Chiefs pass rusher Dee Ford on the outside and already had a young Pro Bowl interior defender in DeForest Buckner.

"I'm going to have an amazing team around me," Bosa said. "The Niners shouldn't have been picking two. They're that talented. They added Dee Ford so now I get to play across from him.

"So just the team and then Coach (Kyle) Shanahan seems like a player's coach, seems like a really good guy. And then John Lynch is a legend in the NFL, and someone I look up to."

Has Bosa spoken with the 49ers about how he will be used within Robert Saleh's defense?

"I'm going to be a 9-technique, and I'm going to be crushing the edge and rushing the passer," Bosa answered. "That's what they drafted me for, I'm sure, so that's what I'm going to do. That's exactly what I've been doing my whole life. It's definitely going to be a good transition, a good fit."

Bosa added that he wants to knock the football out of quarterbacks' hands and change the game.

Transcript provided by the San Francisco 49ers Communications staff. Did you have an inkling that the 49ers were this interested in you to take you in the first round? What were your interactions with them leading up to this? "I think the only time I actually met with them was during the Senior Bowl when you're kind of doing like the little speed dating meetings. So that's really the only time I really got to talk to them. But as far as that, I didn't really have too much conversation and contact with them. My agent was trying to contact them leading up,

5 reasons why 49ers QB Brock Purdy will be better in 2024

By Marc Adams

The San Francisco 49ers appear to have found their quarterback. It was a bumpy road on the journey to locate him, too. There was the up-and-down tenure of Jimmy Garoppolo, whose relationship with Head Coach Kyle Shanahan seemed dysfunctional, at times. Then there was the short-lived Trey Lance experiment. Garoppolo and Lance are no longer being with the team, and one major reason is the emergence of Brock Purdy as the team's QB. Purdy finished his second season with a trip to the Super Bowl, after having a Pro Bowl season in which he finished with 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns. He also led the league in multiple statistics, including passer rating (113.0) and QBR (72.8). Additionally, Purdy finished fourth in NFL MVP voting. But a year ago, no one knew what to

Numerous NFL teams reportedly reached out to the San Francisco 49ers before and during the draft to inquire about the team's star wide receivers, Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel. Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports that the New England Patriots were among the teams that had "preliminary trade discussions" about Samuel. "In general, when teams explore potential transactions with other clubs, finding middle ground on compensation can be challenging," wrote Anderson. "There are always many considerable factors on why the price should possibly be one thing, or another." I'm told the
