San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert is coming off a career game with 19 carries for 146 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Many believe maybe he should have finished with
at least one more carry in the game, but that is a conversation for another time.
Mostert joined
95.7 The Game on Tuesday and said the 49ers spent Monday reviewing the game film while trying to identify areas upon which to improve. He was asked if this most recent loss lingered a little longer than most.
"It doesn't necessarily linger on," Mostert told Damon Bruce, Ray Ratto, and Matt Kolsky. "It's just we've got to get over it and move on because our opponent is the Saints, and we know what we have to do with them."
Sunday's game will be Mostert's first at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The matchup is significant for both teams as the 49ers try to reclaim the NFC West lead from the Seattle Seahawks, who, like New Orleans and San Francisco, are now 10-2.
The Saints are looking to maintain their top spot in the NFC playoff standings.
Mostert isn't expecting as hostile an environment as most are anticipating. Members of The Faithful have traveled well this season, and the team has noticed. They have frequently turned opposing stadiums into what felt like home fields for the visiting 49ers this year.
"I have not played a game in the Voodoo Dome," Mostert said, "and I have heard multiple stories about how crazy the fans are in there, and the atmosphere, and all that. How I see it is it's going to be a neutral site because I know our fans are going to show up because every game we've gone to, so far, has really felt like a home game, especially for these away games. Even in Baltimore, we had a lot of fans cheering for us.
"We're going to see how it goes this week when we play the Saints, but, like I said, it's going to be a nice atmosphere, and I heard nothing but great, crazy things about it."
Another loss could be devastating for San Francisco, especially if Seattle continues to eke out wins. That Week 17 matchup between the two teams could turn out to be huge for the NFC playoff picture.
No one is looking that far ahead, though. For now, the 49ers remain focused on each week's task in front of them and will let the playoff picture figure itself out.
"You can't really do the playoff math right now," Mostert explained. "We've still got a lot of ball left, how we see it, and we're just going to take each week one at a time, and get ready for that opponent for that week.
"I'm not too sure if guys do talk about it. I know that we're not too worried about it. We're just trying to play ball and try to get some wins the best way we can, and have our [best foot forward] every time."

One thing is clear: Ian Rapoport expects Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel to be on the San Francisco 49ers roster when the team takes the field in Week 1 of the 2024 season. At this point, most probably feel that way. The fact that both stayed with the team throughout the draft clearly signals that general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan intend to retain their two talented receivers—at least for one more season.
"Week 1 of 2024, it looks like they both will be [on the roster]," Rapoport told guest host Tom Pelissero on "The Rich Eisen Show."
However, nothing in the NFL is ever certain.
